Boat Overview
Designed by James McGruer, the first Lorne Class was launched in 1961. Over the next 16 years, a total of eight examples were built. Designed as a family cruiser with good speed for racing, the Lorne Class is a robust and attractive yacht. At least two Lorne Class yachts have crossed the Bay of Biscay, with one reaching British Columbia.
Number three of the class, ELFIN OF LORNE, has been lovingly maintained and is continually in commission. Each Lorne Class yacht features a bespoke layout tailored to the commissioning owner's requirements. ELFIN OF LORNE offers three adult berths and a child's pipecot, equipped to a high standard with numerous upgrades in recent years. Key highlights include:
