Layout
From the spacious aft deck, you descend into the wheelhouse, where a lovely living room is located with many sightlines to the water life outside. There is also a wood stove for cozy winter evenings. Adjacent is the open kitchen with dining table and desk, located one floor lower. Here is also the pellet stove for central heating. Further forward, you will find the spacious bathroom, sleeping nook, and bedroom. In the forepeak, there is the possibility for a 3rd bedroom or storage.
Throughout the ship, there is sufficient headroom of about 2 meters. Under the raised living room, there is also plenty of storage space.
Surroundings
Werkhaven Hitland consists of 23 old ships and forms a nice community where people are there for each other, but quite late. The harbor is part of the hamlet of Ver-Hitland with its own community center. Park Hitland is located behind the dike and has walking and cycling paths.
The harbor is located in the Green Heart, but the amenities of Capelle aan den IJssel are just around the corner. Here you can find shopping centers, schools, sports clubs, healthcare, theater, hospitality, parks, and even a golf course.
Metro station Terp is less than a 10-minute bike ride from the harbor, allowing you to reach Rotterdam city center in 30 minutes by public transport. Via the A20 motorway, you can be in Gouda in 20 minutes. Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel has its own train station.
Across from Werkhaven Hitland lies Ouderkerk aan den IJssel, which is easily accessible via a foot ferry.
History of the ship
The ship was built in 1887 at the Barkmeijer shipyard in Zuidhorn. The ship was first measured in 1902 in Amsterdam with a carrying capacity of 85 tons. At that time, the ship was registered in Zuid and Noord Schermer and would have sailed in that area.
The second and last measurement is from 1984, also in Amsterdam, as a recreational vessel. The ship is still called De Hoop and now has a water displacement of 19 tons.
In 2023, the current family purchased the ship and further renovated it into a fully-fledged houseboat.
Technology
The ship has been thoroughly renovated over the years into a houseboat. The current family has taken on the ship to make it a fully-fledged houseboat. The hull was inspected and addressed in May 2023.
The following has been installed in terms of technology: wood stove and pellet stove, electric boiler, Kessel sewage pump, and modern meter cupboard.
Recently, a new skylight was installed for extra daylight in the living room.
Mooring options
