This type of ship was first designed entirely as a motor vessel around 1900, instead of the previously common sailing ships.The shape of the ship was newly developed in all respects at that time, particularly visible at the stern. During construction, a beautiful cabin was built into the stern, providing a certain degree of unusual comfort for that time. Together with the chain steering system with steering wheel, this greatly improved working conditions, earning the ship type the name "luxury motor" quickly.Initially, the ship provided various transport services until in 1954 the second owner renamed the ship to Concordia and began using it as a dredging vessel. The ship itself was used for dredging. Dredging was its own commercial shipping: it was about the sand, not about transporting someone else's cargo. The ship later received a self-discharging installation that allowed the skipper to unload the sand independently.The skipper lived with his wife and five children in the cabin at the back. The dirksluik at the front provided access to a small space in the bow with a bunk, some cabinets, and a built-in bench.In the course of the 1960s, this ship received its current name Vertrouwen and commercial shipping almost completely ceased.
