The Alpa 42 is a Sparkman & Stephens project from '73. Built in '74, it represented the flagship of the yard.
Rigged as a ketch, it has through masts. The rigging of the masts is oversized to provide maximum safety in any condition.The deck layering as per the project has been entirely reinforced with a sandwich system whose core is made of specially treated balsa wood. This system eliminates deck flexing, stiffens it, and gives it particular sound-absorbing and thermal insulating properties. On the outside, it appears free with raised hatches and anti-slip coaming.The cockpit is central, deep, and comfortable. In 2011 and in the following years, significant conservation and improvement maintenance work has been carried out. The mast was removed and the rigging redone, through-hulls replaced, engine completely overhauled, renewed in fundamental components and brought to 0 hours, new hydraulic steering, completely redone electrical and hydraulic systems, installed Quick bow thruster and rudder shaft line instead of the cardan. The cockpit has been redone in teak and the internal upholstery, new total winter cover for the cockpit, new radar, new Simrad navigation, B&G Hornet wind station, new Powersaver inverter, multifunction screen, and new autopilot. New Dometic generator, 3-way electronic battery charger, COMNav series 1001 autopilot, 2 GPS, electric toilet and manual toilet, new Furlex headsail furler. Work costs about 90 thousand euros. (in addition to the requested selling price)
