Maxi sailing yacht for racing and offshore cruising, very fast and very solid, built for the 1996 transat des alizee for the crew of the King of Morocco, designed by Gilles Vaton, 4 cabins and 4 bathrooms, a large saloon and huge spaces for storage such as a sail locker at the bow made to serve as a repair workshop and a large stern locker where the washing machine is located. It needs some internal finishing work but is still ready to sail for a round the world trip. It has just been careened in July 2024 and a careful painting intervention on the stern and sides. High performance boat equipped with a large set of sails, spinnaker, full batten mainsail with Friederiksen track, two Volvo 55 hp engines, complete electronics, dishwasher, 800 l water tank, 500 l diesel, weather fax, autopilot, VHF, GPS with internal and external plotter, eco log, lead bulb, electric winches, anchor winch, gas with oven, refrigerators, boiler, carbon gangway.
Designer of racing and cruising sailboats, Gilles Vaton has been working since 1979 at the “Vaton Design” studio with four colleagues, based in Marseille. He has notably been described as “the French architect who produces the largest units”. A student of André Mauric (the architect of Pen Duick VI) but also of John Illingworth and Charles Nicholson, he is known for his sense of proportion and the elegance of the lines of his boats. A specialist in the design of large boats, he has participated in several America’s Cup campaigns. His solid experience at sea has given him the practical know-how essential to designing units with the vital qualities of seakeeping and reliability: his prestigious racing yacht concepts Charles Heidsieck III (1981), Coriolan (1983) and Milene V (1985) are worth mentioning. This prestigious "one off" took part in the Transat des Alises with a French crew on behalf of the King of Morocco and was soon after purchased by a Belgian couple who still use her for quiet cruises in the Mediterranean.
