Built by the renowned Dutch shipyard Van Dam Nordia, Altaïr underwent an exceptionally extensive refit between 2017 and 2020, effectively transforming her into an almost new yacht. Nearly every major component was renewed: all technical systems, wiring, piping, batteries, electronics, navigation equipment, interior, paintwork, sails, even her 18 mm teak deck, laid in 2012, remains in good condition.
The result is a high-quality, safe, and comfortable blue-water cruiser ready for long-distance voyages. Altaïr presents the perfect blend of classic beauty and modern engineering. Her aluminium long-keel hull, ketch-cutter rig, and hydraulically operated sails make her extremely safe and easy to handle with minimal crew.
Navigation is thoroughly modern, featuring three B&G Zeus³ chart plotters at the helm, in the cockpit, and at the navigation station, all integrated into a new NMEA2000 network with broadband radar and autopilot.
Below deck, the upgraded white and-wood interior, new LED lighting, and refined craftsmanship bring a bright, contemporary feel while preserving the warmth of the original joinery.
Individual climate control in each cabin provides comfort in all conditions. Technically, Altaïr is as fresh as her appearance. The fully rebuilt engine room includes new stainless-steel piping, new wiring, a practical workbench, and modern relay cabinets operated either by manual panels or PLC control.
To maximise self-sufficiency at sea, three eco-friendly systems were added: a 900 Watt solar array integrated into the bimini, a 100 Ah shaft alternator for charging while sailing, and a 200-litre hot-water boiler heated by the main engine or regenerated cooling water. Sanitary facilities were upgraded with five new ceramic electric toilets feeding two black-water tanks, a modern, reliable setup suitable for long-term cruising.
SY Altaïr is far more than a classic yacht. She is a beautifully renewed, exceptionally safe, and elegantly appointed blue-water cruiser, built with Dutch craftsmanship and refitted to modern standards, fully prepared for her next Mediterranean season or a voyage around the world.
Located approx. half an hour from Amsterdam Schiphol airport.
