Boat Description Ariana is a semi-custom built vessel produced in Taiwan under the supervision of the boatyard manager for his own personal use. She was constructed with a solid fiberglass hull, fiberglass hat stringers spaced 12” on center, and 2” fiberglass floors with 20” on center stringers for exceptional stiffness and strength. The bulkheads were properly glassed in with foam to eliminate hard spots and improve structural integrity throughout the vessel. The teak decks were professionally reworked by removing the original screws and epoxying the planks down, replacing sections where necessary. The result is an epoxy-bonded teak deck system with many years of life remaining and no leaks. Ariana was repowered with a new commercial-grade Cummins diesel engine with very low hours. The engine is non-electronic, extremely reliable, and well suited for serious offshore cruising. The owner also commissioned a custom stainless steel pedestal for the vessel, a feature he was particularly proud of. Ariana is equipped with two autopilot systems, including one mechanical autopilot system for redundancy and offshore reliability. Her sail inventory includes cruising sails, Vectran race sails, a carbon spinnaker pole, one or two spinnakers, and storm sails, offering excellent versatility for both passagemaking and performance sailing. The upholstery has been renewed in Ultrasuede material, and the owner has taken exceptional care of the interior cushions, storing them wrapped in plastic in a separate storage area along with the running rigging when not in use. Ariana features a shoal keel design, providing shallow draft capability while still maintaining impressive sailing performance.
Additional Info Accommodation Ariana features a unique and highly practical two companionway layout designed for comfortable offshore passagemaking and liveaboard cruising. The forward companionway leads into a beautifully finished teak saloon with excellent natural light and ventilation, a spacious and well-appointed galley, and a forward double berth cabin. The forward head has been converted into a utility room with an additional refrigeration unit, though it can easily be reverted back into a head if desired. The spacious saloon features a stunning teak dining table with comfortable seating for up to eight guests on fine Ultrasuede upholstery with composite foam cushions. The aft companionway leads directly into the navigation station and aft double berth fitted with a memory foam mattress, creating an excellent offshore sea berth arrangement. The aft head and shower are conveniently positioned between the two companionways for easy access underway or at anchor.

Owners Comments and Boat History She has been based out of New England until 2019 and is now based out of Antigua. The original owner had this vessel built at Sen Koh Shipyard in Taiwan and personally oversaw construction alongside a marine surveyor in 1987. She was shipped to the United States in 1989 but was never fitted out when purchased by the current owner in 1992. Since then, Ariana has accumulated over 50,000 offshore miles, including twelve New England to Caribbean passages and eleven Bermuda 1-2 races, consistently placing in the standings. The owner’s personal best singlehanded Bermuda 1-2 crossing was completed in just 77 hours despite encountering nearly 100 miles of light air near Bermuda. Ariana is described as a true “ocean greyhound” capable of outpointing most vessels in her class. The teak deck and cockpit were professionally refurbished in 2021, including full-depth recaulking using the TDS system, selective plank replacement, and epoxy screw replacement with full-depth bungs. In 2022, the rudder was removed for internal inspection and professionally rebuilt with new foam, biaxial epoxy layup, and fairing. She sailed from Virginia to Antigua in November 2019 and remained laid up ashore from June 2020 until being recommissioned and relaunched in March 2023. All systems and electronics are fully operational and commissioned. Ariana was purpose-built for serious offshore and single-handed sailing. All bulkheads are fully glassed in with foam to eliminate hard spots, and the absence of interior liners contributes to a quieter ride offshore. Her deep forefoot and heavy displacement allow her to move comfortably through rough seas without pounding, a design proven across more than 50,000 offshore miles.
