Beautiful Storebro, in the final phase of an extensive refit
This Storebro has undergone an extensive refit and is ready for a second life phase. Among other things, the following has been renewed or refitted:
the propeller shaft tube, woodwork of the bow, foredeck, aft deck, additional frames installed, dashboard, fuel system, including fuel pump and carburetor, water pump, hoses and pipes, through-hulls and valves, automatic bilge pump, electrical system, spark-free fan, sink/cooking plate, new bimini top and rear tent with stainless steel frame.
This Storebro may be one of the rare ships that was originally equipped with a 6-cylinder engine; normally, these ships were fitted with the marinized Volvo B18 4-cylinder engine.
The 6-cylinder engine may indicate that it was an export model for the USA.
We are still investigating this.
The Storebro has a modern layout that can also be found on many contemporary ships; large open cockpit, fixed rear bench, foldable table, on the starboard side a combination sink/cooking facility, engine box, starboard bench at the steering for 2 people, and a storage cabinet on the port side with a cozy sleeping area for 2 people in the bow. Plenty of storage options under the benches.
The open cockpit can potentially be converted into a sleeping area for 2 children.
The ship has a completely new bimini top and rear tent with new stainless steel frames, which has also increased the headroom to 190 cm.
The gasoline engine has an undeserved reputation in Europe for being fire hazardous. However, across the pond, 85% of boats are powered by gasoline engines!
This ship has had its entire fuel system renewed or refurbished, including tank, fuel hose, filter, fuel pump, and carburetor.
The electrical system has also been completely renewed.
Additionally, a spark-free fan has been installed to ventilate the engine compartment before starting. The boat is also equipped with 2 fire extinguishers.
With sensible use, a gasoline engine is no more or less dangerous than a diesel engine; just don't smoke on board!
