With the proceeds of that win, he commissioned the construction of the remarkable sailing yacht Baccarat. Her solid construction and attention to detail clearly reflect that she was built to endure for generations. In 1953, Baccarat was built by the renowned shipyard Abeking & Rasmussen under construction number 4879. The design, numbered 1097, originated from the esteemed naval architects Sparkman & Stephens. She features oak frames, a solid teak deck, and a double-planked mahogany hull. Originally, Baccarat was used for the Bermuda Classic Regatta under the flag of the New York Yacht Club. Later, she served as a family yacht in Greece and Antigua. The current owner is the owner since 1996. For the first twelve years, he sailed her primarily in the Netherlands.
