The Essence 33 has something of the Wally
Nano about it because of its mix of classic and
modern elements: a sleekly raked stern and a
plumb bow, a compact, square deckhouse
and a highly efficient sail plan with a
gennaker tacked to the bowsprit. However,
one characteristic makes this Dutch 10-metre
very different from its 36’ Monegasque
counterpart: it can be loaded onto a trailer.
This might be a secondary consideration were
it not a daysailer but all you have to do is drive
to wherever you want to launch and use the
kind of small crane you’ll find in most marinas
(its displacement is under 3 tonnes) and your
problem of long sea transfers is solved. This
is also a very nippy little yacht – just look at
its waterlines, appendages and sail plan
(around 70 square metres of white sails with
minimal overlap jib and around 90 square
metres of gennaker). The interiors are pared
to the minimum with just two berths in
addition to the saloon bench. But there is also
a fridge and marine WC.

olandese dal 36' monegasco: è carrellabile. Potrebbe essere un elemento secondario, ma non per
un daysailer. Basta recarsi via terra nella zona dove si vuole navigare e con una gru di piccole
dimensioni, disponibile nella maggior parte dei marina (il dislocamento totale è inferiore alle tre
tonnellate), ed è risolto il problema dei lunghi trasferimenti via mare. Le prestazioni rimangono
tuttavia di assoluta rilevanza, anche a giudicare dalle linee d'acqua, dalle appendici e dalle
superfici veliche: circa 70 metri quadrati di vele bianche con minima sovrapposizione del fiocco e
circa 90 metri quadrati del gennaker. Interni ridotti all'essenziale, con due sole cuccette, oltre alle
panche del quadrato. Non mancano però il frigo e il wc marino.
