Preliminary Listing, New Arrival, Additional information and Video coming soon.
Here is a rare opportunity to acquire a capable and thoroughly refit long-range cruising trawler, perfectly suited for the Pacific Northwest and journeys further afield. Cervantes is a 2000 Grand Alaskan 64 Pilothouse Motoryacht — a Defever-designed vessel renowned for her sea-kindly hull form, exceptional range, and spacious, hotel-quality interior. Originally built in Taiwan to the Defever design and finished to a high standard, the Grand Alaskan 64 is one of the premier production trawlers sold into the North American market. The comfortable pilothouse with excellent visibility makes extended passages very comfortable in all seasons.
Since acquisition by the current owners, Cervantes has undergone an extensive refit and refresh program — many hours and dollars spent on labor, renewal, and upgrades — transforming this capable trawler into a ready-to-cruise vessel with modern systems throughout. The result is a vessel with a freshly serviced mechanical foundation, new electronics, upgraded electrical systems, refit interior, and a stunning new full-hull paint job. The striking dark teal hull with white bootstripe is eye-catching in any anchorage. Currently moored in North Saanich, BC, she is perfectly positioned for immediate cruising in the Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound, and along the entire NW coast.
The sale includes a new 2025 Novurania 430 RIB tender with a 60 HP Tohatsu outboard, Simrad GPS/plotter/sounder, and custom downrigger base, paired with an updated Steelhead Marine SM1500R electric davit system complete with boom arm, controls, electric motor, hydraulic system, new batteries, and charger.
The twin Caterpillar engines are a well-matched powerplant for this hull. Running at a relaxed cruise of 10 knots at 1,700 RPM keeps the engines well within their comfortable operating range, maximising efficiency and range. With 1,300 gallons of fuel capacity, she is ideal for extended passagemaking up the BC coast, across to Alaska, or south to Mexico.
Notable Equipment & Features:
If you are in the market for a classic extended-range pilothouse trawler, there is excellent value here. With the 2026 cruising season fast approaching, this is a compelling opportunity. Cervantes is a Canadian-registered vessel with duties paid.
