The beauty of the surroundings can be enjoyed from anywhere within the interior of the Outback. Her unique window design on the main deck and hull opens up vistas. The practical and elegant blend of teak with low maintenance materials offers those on board a warm, comfortable atmosphere. The Outback can be ordered in one, two and three stateroom configurations.Outback 50 DeckspaceThis unique design can transport more “fun” than any yacht twice the size. Fondly referred to as the infinity deck, the open transom has 16’ of expansive deck space, offers a myriad of possibilities. Whether it’s a 16’ skiff, RIB, jet skis, comfortable deck furniture – its your choice! Storage of deck furniture, a grill and water toys has been uniquely incorporated into the design of the Outback.Shallow DraftThe outback has half the draft of most offshore vessels! The Outback uniquely provides true offshore capability with the most shoal draft of any vessel in her class. Even more astonishing – she has a keel to help protect the running gear, taking modern tunnel technology to a new level. The prop/tunnel configuration of the Outback provides an amazing degree of efficiency and comfort. The Outback significantly outperforms the vast majority of pod driven vessels in her class. Her tried and tested propulsion design reduces the build and maintenance cost, while increasing reliability and reducing draft. Whether you’re cruising the ICW, Bahamas or exploring meandering tributaries, the Outback can safely take you where other vessels her size dare not go.Efficient PerformerPerformance, draft and safety influenced the decision to choose twin engine propulsionThe mission from the outset was to develop an offshore vessel that provides the most economical performance possible. Diesel/electric propulsion was considered as well as a single engine installation. The diesel/electric option was ruled out due to the much higher initial cost. Surprisingly the single engine option proved to be less economical at low and mid-range speeds and no better than the twin engine configuration at higher speeds. After analyzing the data, The twin engine propulsion option was selected as the main power source of the Outback. The selected twin engine configuration also provides the security of redundancy of engines, running gear and rudders. Twin engines also allowed Michael Peters Yacht Designs to reduce the draft by more than a foot and the additional security of having the keel become the lowest point.External Engine AccessThe engine access & location add to the economy and enjoyment of the outbackThe Outback was designed and engineered to be easy and less expensive to service than other vessels of similar size. This results in a lower annual cost of ownership and more time on the water. By keeping all primary mechanical systems under the aft deck, away from the accommodations, gains significant reductions in noise, odors and vibrations. Access is a breeze with her unique deck hatch configuration. Everything is easily serviceable! This design allows personnel to service the vessel with no need for them to intrude upon the primary comfort of those onboard. Heavy machinery, including an engine or generator, can be conveniently removed for repair. The Outback can be delivered with various engine options delivering speeds in excess of 20 knots.
