A popular choice for the offshore cruising yachtsman the Vancouver 34 Classic has proven to be a reliable cruising yacht wither cruising around the coast or crossing oceans. The long keel and cutter rig providing a balanced boat which is easy on her helmsman and crew in the most arduous of conditions. With her owners now retiring from sailing she is offered with a comprehensive inventory including:Topsides finished with two-pack paint (2023)Yanmar 3GM30F marine diesel engineBruntons 3-blade AutoProp feathering propellerAmbassador rope cutterVictron galvanic isolatorDomestic and Engine batteries replaced in 2023Mastervolt Smart ChargerRutland 1200 wind generator, manufacturer overhaul in 2024Raymarine autopilot systemAutohelm ST50 Navigation instrumentsRaymarine E-series Hybrid Touch plotterRaymarine C80 Classic plotterRaymarine Pathfinder series radarAmec AIS transceiverStanding rigging replaced fully in 2016New set of sails from Owen Sails in 2023Talamex 2.5m inflatable dinghy (2023)Lying ashore the Vancouver 34 VAL is available for immediate viewing ashore at Creran Marine, near Oban, Argyll.BUILDERS COMMENT:‘The Vancouver 34 is every inch and offshore cruiser. Under sail she has a light helm and is perfectly balanced in any wind strength making it easy work for the helmsman or self steering gear. The standard rig is strong (some say over specified) and supports the cutter rig. The Vancouver 34 is surprisingly fast under sail and high average speeds are possible which can be maintained for long periods: the ideal passagemaker. The Vancouver 34 is a modern ‘classic’ and despite her long keel and heavy displacement is easy to manouever under sail or power. She is first choice for serious cruising. Comfortably wide decks and substantial guard rails provide safety and security at sea. There is no doubt she is the perfect boat for heading off over the horizon’CONSTRUCTIONHull Construction:Single piece GRP moulded hullLaminated using the Northshore Yachts proprietory Nordseal systemChopped strand and woven glass reinforcing cloths, hand consolidatedSandwich laminate construction with balsa core above the waterlineSolid GRP laminate through keel pan area with additional layers of reinforcement around keelMoulded beam shelf to receive deck incorporated into hull mouldingEncapsualted full length lead ballast keelTopsides finished with two-pack paint, professionally applied over winter (2023)Underwater hull coated with red antifoulingDeck & Superstructure Construction:Integrated deck, superstructure and self-draining cockpit mouldingSingle piece GRP moulding.Chopped strand and woven glass reinforced cloths, hand consolidated.Sandwich type construction with balsa core, plywood core in way of high load areas and deck fittings.Deck fully glassed to hull moulding.Deck moulding finished in ivory creamTreadmaster non-slip panels bonded to side decks.Keel & Rudder:Full-length encapsulated keel with skeg extended aft to support rudder.Lead ballast keel MACHINERYEngine & gearbox:Yanmar 3GM30F marine diesel engine3 cylinder, naturally aspirated, indirectly cooled.27hpMechanical reversing marine gearboxSingle lever morse controlMaintenance & Performance: New raw water pump assembly fitted in summer 2022Recorded engine running hours 3,135hrsCruising speed under engine 6.5ktsSelection of cruising spares aboard for enginePropulsion & Steering:Stainless steel prop shaftBronze A-bracket supporting cutlass bearingBruntons 3-blade AutoProp feathering propellerAmbassador rope cutterWhitlock steering pedestalStainless steel steering wheelEmergency tillerAutopilot:Autohelm ST6000New heading sensor fitted 2024ELECTRICAL SYSTEMSVoltage systems:12VDC onboard power supply230VAC shore power systemShore Power System:Extension lead to connect to shore power supplySingle 16 amp connection pointVictron galvanic isolatorHardwired RCD protected systemRing main, battery charger and immersion heaterBattery Banks:Engine Battery – 1x 12VDC AGM (2023)Domestic Battery – 2x 12VDC AGM (2023)Batteries are fitted with independent isolators and link switch for emergency startingAlternator:Single engine driven alternatorBattery Charger:Mastervolt Smart Charger230VAC – 12VDC, 15ampWind Generator:Rutland 1200 wind generator mounted on starboard quarterOverhauled by manufacturer in 2024Marlec charge controllerMarlec rutland remote displayBattery Monitor:Marlec Rutland remote display shows battery voltageGeneral:USB charging socket at chart table and in cockpitPLUMBING Fresh Water:Pressurised hot and cold water system.Mixer tap in galley and heads.Shower in heads.Manually pumped (hand pump tap) fresh water tap in galleyManually pumped tap in headsHot water provided from engine heated tank.Salt Water:Manually pumped (foot pump) raw water tap in galleyBilge Pumps:Manual Bilge Pump – x2Gas System:Self-draining bottle storage locker2x 4.5kg gas bottlesSupply to cookerTANKAGEFuel:Single diesel tank.
