Savarna | 2006 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 39i Performance
Savarna is a high-performance cruising yacht designed by Marc Lombard, blending elegant lines with agile, seaworthy performance. Launched in 2006, this Sun Odyssey 39i Performance features the innovative injection-moulded deck, providing a stronger, lighter structure with a low centre of gravity for superior stability.
This owner's version has been meticulously maintained and upgraded, offering two comfortable cabins, an enlarged head with a separate stall shower, and a large portside storage "garage" or lazarette. The interior showcases warm teak joinery and a bright, airy saloon, with a wraparound dinette to starboard seating five to six and a straight settee opposite a dedicated navigation station.
The L-shaped galley is conveniently positioned near the companionway and fitted with a 12v top-load fridge, freezer compartment, Eno 2-burner stove, oven, and double stainless steel sink. A gas alarm is installed for safety.
Ease of handling is a key feature, ideal for short-handed crews. Twin steering wheels provide clear movement in the cockpit, and electric winches bring all reefing and sail control lines back to the helm. The cockpit is spacious, with a centreline table for six, broad swim platform, hot-and-cold transom shower, and dedicated life raft storage.
The performance upgrades include a taller mast, increased sail area, tri-radial main and headsails, an adjustable backstay, and an asymmetrical screecher/gennaker. The removable bowsprit, furlers, and electric primary winches make sail handling effortless.
Safety and anchoring have been enhanced with an oversize Sacra Excel anchor, 70m of 10mm chain, and 80m of 16mm warp, giving peace of mind at anchor. The vessel has twin steering, excellent reverse control, and pivots easily on its keel, making it exceptionally manoeuvrable in marinas.
Savarna has proven herself on extended coastal passages, including adventures along the New South Wales and Queensland coasts, the Great Sandy Strait, Lady Musgrave Island, the Keppel Islands, the Percy Islands, the Whitsundays, and the Great Barrier Reef. She sails beautifully and is perfect for families or couples seeking a capable, comfortable cruiser that handles double-handed with ease.
