Extremely sturdy long-distance cruiser with extensive total renovation 2018–2022
Offered here is an exceptionally robust and competent steel boat, designed for serious sailing and extended stays away from port. The vessel is an economical and stable "downwind sailor" with an impressive range and low operating costs – up to approximately 2,500 km without refueling is entirely realistic.
When under motor alone, it consumes only about 10 l/h at 6.5 knots, and when motor-sailing, just 1.2 l/h at 4.5 knots, making it ideal for long-distance voyages.
Comprehensive refit – top-class hull and technology During the period 2018–2022, the vessel underwent an extensive and professional renovation: -Underwater hull sandblasted, primed, painted, and bottom treated -Hull sides sanded down and repainted in Jotun 2-component system -Rudder removed and bearings replaced -Propeller shaft pulled and new propeller fitted to match the new engine and gearbox -Through-hulls and steel exhaust renewed -All internal hull surfaces inspected and painted before machinery installation
Fuel tanks (2 x 2,000 liters) have been emptied and cleaned, and compromised steel over the starboard tank has been replaced.
Deck, superstructure, and safety: -New wooden deck followed by synthetic "weathered teak" on gangways, aft deck, and bridge deck -All railings raised to a minimum of 1000 mm -New aluminum pilothouse with watertight hatches -Observation platform on the pilothouse roof
History, origin, and extensive refit
The vessel was built in 1965 near Rotterdam in Holland for a Dutch millionaire, emphasizing uncompromising strength, quality, and long-range sailing capabilities from the start.
In the 1980s, the boat was sold to Ipswich in England, and in the early 1990s, she completed an impressive Atlantic circuit with voyages to destinations such as the Caribbean, New Orleans, Key West, and New York – a clear testament to the vessel's ocean-going suitability and reliability.
Later, it was sold again in England before the current owner took over the boat in 2009. With great respect for the vessel's history and potential, the owner embarked on an ambitious and thorough refit, lasting from 2018 to 2022. The boat was technically and structurally upgraded to meet modern long-distance cruising requirements while preserving its original character and quality.
Following the extensive renovation, the vessel undertook another long-distance voyage – an 18-month sail from England to Cyprus and back during the period 2022–2024 – highlighting that it now presents as a fully updated and proven ocean cruiser, ready for new adventures.
