Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42DS – 2008 - £122,500The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42DS has been a very successful model for Jeanneau over the years. She is an attractive, stylish and modern looking yacht externally and has an extremely light, airy, comfortable and functional interior layout with 2 double cabins, each with en-suites, a sociable saloon and a really good galley. The huge aft cabin is the envy of many 50ft yachts – with a queen-sized centre-line berth, amble storage and en-suite access to the aft shower & heads, appealing to sailors who enjoy the generous aft cabin of a centre cockpit yacht, without the limitations of a smaller saloon and cockpit space often found on centre cockpit yachts. This 2008 model year Jeanneau 42DS is fitted with a 54hp Yanmar diesel, bow thruster and an easily handled all furling rigInventory highlights include: Osmosea 60L/Hr 12v energy recovery water maker
520w Solar panels
Webasto 16,000Btu 240v reverse-cycle air conditioning and heating
All underwater skin fittings & valves changed to mainly Trudesign composite units

If one wants to convert the main saloon's starboard side seating to a double berth, this particular example has the facility to do so, but more conveniently the main saloon would be restricted to night passage use on two single berths. A 16,000 Btu reverse-cycle 230v air conditioning unit by Webasto is fitted under the port saloon seating providing comfortably cooled air circulation from the central saloon, this unit can also operate in a reverse cycle to provide warm air heating. All overhead deck hatches are fitted with combined roller blinds and insect screens. A stereo radio/CD player is fitted in the main saloon, with a pair of speakers here and duplicated by waterproof speakers in the cockpit. Forward cabin: The forward cabin's double berth is fitted across the centre-line, with good access to the bed offered by the sheer accessible breadth at its aft end. Dressing is made easy by a small seat to port of the generous area of cabin sole. A hanging locker, with shelved storage is also fitted to port, opposite the relatively large ensuite heads. Open shelving along each side of berth. Deck hatch with dual blind & insect screen. 240v and 12 volt sockets Forward En-suite: forward heads compartment is generous in size, with a combination shower/mixer tap facility to the hand basin and draining sump. A hand pumped marine toilet is fitted (with holding tank). Light and ventilation is provided by an overhead hatch. Saloon area: The main saloon is at a raised level - above that of the forward cabin - and refreshing light levels are encouraged by generous and stylish side windows, combining with overhead hatches/windows in the leading edge of the coachroof and fixed, hull-side portlights to either side. The 'light and bright' theme continues through the cream-coloured leatherette upholstery and use of pale toned veneers and contrasting hardwoods. The saloon table is offset to starboard, with welcoming wrap-around seating offering some snugness for after dark, this table lowering using short legs to create a good-sized double berth. A 24" LG TV mounted on the port forward bulkhead runs from the 12v supply, also a Caframo fan unit on forward starboard corner.Nav area: a fixed and forward-facing 'Chart Table' is located toward the aft end of the saloon to port, still with its own dedicated navigator's seat. 12v DC and AC electrical distribution panels, together with the multi-function instrumentation repeater are located immediately alongside the navigator's left shoulder in this area. FM Radio/BT/USB/MP3 Player with two saloon speakers and two cockpit speakers. Galley area: A primarily L-shaped galley with Corian worktops incorporates a shallow indent to assist in the cook's security while underway & incorporates double stainless-steel sinks, and a large, top-opening 130 Litre refrigerated cool box without prejudicing the need for straightforward working surface too. The fresh water tap is fed through dual 10" filters (2 micron particulate and carbon block for drinking), an Eno gas cooker with a two-burner hob and oven is fitted and protected by a stainless crash bar, with a 220-240V AC microwave fitted outboard of the conventional cooker, beneath the side deck. The closed stowage offered by this galley is practicable as much by dint of sheer volume, as by particularly clever design - it works as a result of refreshing simplicity combined with space in all areas. Aft Heads Compartment: A day-use heads compartment located immediately to port of the foot of the companionway may be secured from within to offer en-suite facilities to the aft master cabin. Generous headroom offers practicable showering. The mirrored under-deck locker encloses fiddled shelf storage. A hand pumped marine toilet is fitted with a holding tank facility provided. Aft Cabin: The Aft, Master Cabin's centreline double berth is lit from above by an opening hatch and from each side by fixed hull ports. Two opening port lights to the coach roof sides also ensure good cross-ventilation in hot climes. Dressing seats are fitted to either side of the cabin, while a double-door hanging/shelved locker is located to starboard. To either side of the berth itself, there are top-access lockers for bulky clothing. A deep-fiddled top to the rear access of the engine space provides small-item stowage and a mirror above, combines with the foot of the berth for hair brushing and make-up application. 2 X 240v and 2 X 12 volt DC socketsMechanical and Electrical SystemsYanmar 4JH4-AE naturally aspirated 4-cylinder 54Hp Diesel Engine in excellent condition with only around 993 hours.Shaft drive with Volvo Penta type non drip lip seal to a three-blade propeller with rope cutter. The engine is easily accessible from three entry pointsVetus 4hp Bow Thruster with its own separate 12v batteryElectrical Systems:12-volt house battery system1 x 12v/110ah Engine start battery. 1 x 12v/110ah Bow thruster batteryCharging from a total of 520w solar panels & 80a engine driven Alternator2000w pure sine wave inverter, powered by house battery bank230v ring main with 230v and 12v sockets throughout.
