The Volvo 70 ‘Hypr’ is the ex Camper Volvo Ocean Racing Yacht that competed in the 2011–12 Volvo Ocean Race, finishing second. Originally designed for extreme speed, the Volvo 70 has subsequently transferred over into an impressive IRC Racing Machine. It features a carbon fiber/Nomex hull, a 40-degree canting keel, and previously set the 24-hour monohull record of 565 miles.
Built by Cookson Boats in New Zealand, the vessel was designed by the Emirates Team New Zealand design team/Botin to be light, strong, and capable of enduring around the world sailing.
As a 3rd generation VO70, the Hypr VO 70 represents one of the most advanced iterations of the now-retired Volvo 70 rule.
