Owner's opinion
For several years it was decided, I would enjoy my retirement traveling by sailing on my boat. In 2017, with the deadline in sight, I began searching for a so-called long-distance sailing boat that could meet my plans: robust, safe, powerful, fast, comfortable, and with a deck salon. In 2018, I settled on the JPB 52 designed by Jean Pierre Brouns (a recognized architect with whom I exchanged a lot), the hull made of thick aluminum (Strongall) by the Meta shipyard, a guarantee of quality. The hull completed, in June 2020, was transported to Lorient to the Sailwood shipyard for fitting out and the realization of other services, until its launch in December 2021. Good choice, the entire realization was perfectly executed. After several sails in southern Brittany, in May, MacLir left Lorient for Scotland where, in strong weather conditions, we were able to appreciate its qualities, including the deck salon while sailing, all maneuvers returning to the cockpit, and its stability in rough seas with a sense of safety. Back in Brittany, in September we took MacLir down to Tenerife, then, after a winter in the Canaries, we brought it back to the Gulf of Morbihan, stopping at the Azores to prepare it for the "Great Departure" to the South via the Antilles. Unfortunately, life's circumstances meant that this beautiful project could not be realized. I had to resolve to put my MacLir up for sale.
