Highly specified and recently updated example of the German Frers-designed Hylas H54 raised saloon centre cockpit. Extremely rare to the market, with custom 4-cabin layout and one of just three H54’s to carry CE approval.FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:Winner of the prestigious Cruising World Magazine ‘Boat of the Year’, the German Frers designed Hylas 54 RS (Raised Saloon) has proven herself as a hugely successful and desirable blue water cruising yacht both in the US and in Europe with 59 built before replacement with the equally popular Hylas 56 which shared the same basic hull design.ASIA (hull number 07 and originally named ‘WINDSONG’) was originally supplied via the US Hylas dealer, but thanks to a Post Construction Assessment (PCA) carried out in 2023, she is now one of just three Hylas 54’s to carry CE conformity allowing onward sale within the European market. In addition to her hugely desirable CE PCA, ASIA has also benefitted from a comprehensive refit during the 2023/24 period including replacement of her teak decks, repainting of her hull and superstructure, replacement of her standing rigging, overhaul of her machinery and much more. Fully fitted out for shorthanded bluewater cruising, ASIA' specification highlights are many and include:-• Custom four cabin, two heads interior layout with teak interior joinery throughout• Twaron (Carbon/Kevlar) reinforced hull and superstructure• Aft watertight bulkhead and watertight collision bulkhead forward• Recently completed preventative epoxy treatment• Recently repainted topsides in Awlgrip ‘Sea Foam’ and superstructure in off-white• Recently replaced teak decks• Semi-skegged rudder• Yanmar 100hp engine with Max Prop 3-bladed folding prop• Vetus 130kgs bowthruster• Onan 8kw 220vAC generator• Spectra 220vAC reverse osmosis watermaker• Large (1,040 litre) fuel and water (1,059 litre) water capacities• Upgraded Raymarine instrument package with Axiom plotters and digital radar• Icom VHF• Large capacity 12vDC twin fridge/freezer system with keel coolers• Electric freshwater heads• Cruisair reverse-cycle air-conditioning system• DC fans• Selden in-mast furling rig with standing rigging replaced 2023/24• Running Rigging replaced 2023/24• Electric mainsail furler• Genoa and staysail furlers• Lewmar electric primary and mainsheet winches2023/24 REFIT HIGHLIGHTS:• New 12mm full teak deck• Hull stripped back to gelcoat and treated with epoxy system• Hull topsides and superstructure repainted• External revarnish refinished• Replacement of standing rigging• Replacement of running rigging• Mast and boom painted white• Engine and generator overhauled• New propeller shaft• Diesel tank cleaning • New stainless steel rubbing strake• New navigation and spreader lights• Interior soleboards revarnished• Bilges repainted• Interior porthole frames replaced • New refrigeration compressors and cooling plates
SPECIFICATIONSCONSTRUCTIONRCD Status:• Our understanding is that the vessel complies with CE Certification Directive 94/25/CE (Category "A" Ocean) via Post Construction Assessment (PCA) Hull Construction:• The hull is hand laid up using three layers of TWARON; a carbon aramid (Kevlar) fibre with alternating FRP (fibre reinforced plastic) glass lay-up. • A solid laminate (ie. no core) is used for maximum strength and longevity.• Modern vinylester resins and isophthalic gelcoats are used for increased resistance to the effects of osmosis. • The hull is finished in Awlgrip ‘Sea Foam’– repainted 2024• Hull stripped back to gelcoat and treated with epoxy system – 2024• The hull sides feature a teak rubbing strake with stainless steel capping. This rubbing strake runs the length of the hull sides – replaced 2023/24• The bow area is further protected by a stainless-steel strike plate in the general anchor area. A protective stainless-steel plate can also be found at the transom.• Internally, a watertight collision bulkhead is found ahead of the forward cabin with independent overboard drainage. • Aft are watertight stern sections protecting the owner’s cabin from water ingress to the aft lazarettes and stern lockers.Deck & Superstructure Construction:• Balsa-cored GRP deck & with solid GRP laminate used beneath deck fittings and in high-stress areas.• Additional layer of TWARON built into coachroof• The deck and forward coachroof are overlaid with hand-picked 12mm teak planking – replaced 2023/24• Areas not covered in teak are finished in a high quality grey non-slip GRP finish. • Superstructure repainted 2023/24• The cockpit seating and bathing platform are also teak laid with teak grating above the cockpit sole • Raised solid teak bulwark is fitted along the lengths of the deck with stainless steel fairleads in way of mooring cleats. • The superstructure and forward coachroof also feature stainless steel or teak grab rails• Ventilation to below decks is via a number of opening alloy deckhead hatches, stainless steel cowl vents and stainless steel opening side ports.• Exterior varnish refinished 2023/24Keel & Rudder:• The keel is a fin section with a slight bulb to the base.• The keel material is solid lead, attached to the GRP bilge with 8x 35mm acid resistant stainless-steel bolt with transverse mounted 8mm backing plates.• The rudder is a semi-skegged GRP blade for optimal performance, strength and protection.• The draft of the rudder is less than the keel, to ensure full protection in case of accidental grounding.MACHINERYEngine & gearbox:• Yanmar 4JH-UTE 100hp 4 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with cockpit controls and alarm system•
