Every Helmsman Trawler is built with one goal in mind: confidence on the water and comfort at sea. Proven construction methods, exceptional craftsmanship, and modern wide-beam hull designs come together to create boats that feel solid, safe, and genuinely enjoyable to own.
The Helmsman 43E Pilothouse is the refined second-generation evolution of the original 43 Pilothouse, first introduced in 2015 as a larger companion to the wildly popular 38 Pilothouse. The result? A trawler that keeps everything owners loved—while quietly improving everything else.
The 43E features redesigned exterior windows for improved sightlines and aesthetics, a refined pilothouse roofline with better rainwater management, and enhanced sound insulation throughout—most notably full acoustic lining of the hull around the master stateroom for a noticeably quieter night at anchor.
The signature low-rise pilothouse remains a defining feature, creating a seamless connection between helm and salon. From the helm, visibility aft is excellent, while the pilothouse seating area doubles as a comfortable dining or lounging space—perfect whether you’re underway or relaxing in port.
Step into the full-beam main salon and the space is immediately impressive. Large opening windows flood the interior with natural light and fresh air, offering panoramic views in every direction. Rich, classically nautical joinery and thoughtful proportions make the salon equally suited for entertaining guests or stretching out with a good book. A day head directly off the salon is a hugely practical touch, and when guests stay aboard, the salon dinette and day head can be enclosed to form a private convertible guest suite.
Below, the owner’s stateroom is generous and well thought out, with deeper hanging lockers than the 38, extensive shelving, and plenty of drawers and storage lockers. The guest stateroom features a comfortable double berth, hanging locker, and ample storage—ideal for extended cruising with friends or family.
Outside, the 43E continues to shine. A high bow adds confidence offshore, while mid-ships boarding access, a larger cockpit with full-length cover, and deep pilothouse side-deck footwells make moving around the boat safe and easy in all conditions. Wide flybridge access stairs on both port and starboard add practicality, and the flybridge itself offers flexible layouts—either a center helm with L-shaped settee or a starboard helm with U-shaped dinette.
The boat deck is exceptionally large, easily accommodating a dinghy, deck chairs, or cruising gear, and the entire upper deck is bordered by a no-drip edge to keep things clean and controlled.
Helmsman’s quality is immediately apparent: thick deck laminates, deep gelcoat, sturdy welded double-rung rails, premium hardware, and beautiful teak detailing throughout the interior. Fit and finish are outstanding.
Power comes standard from a Cummins QSB 6.7L 380 hp electronically controlled common-rail diesel, with optional horsepower ratings available up to 550 hp—giving owners the flexibility to tailor performance to their cruising style.
With minimal exterior maintenance, reliable and economical propulsion, and a wide range of options and custom configurations, the Helmsman 43E is designed to spend more time cruising—and less time worrying about the boat.
