The “North Star” is a 32-foot Cape Island-style vessel, renowned for its stability, impressive load-carrying capacity, and exceptional seaworthiness. Originally developed on the rugged Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia, Cape Island boats were purpose-built for the commercial fishing industry and have since become highly regarded for both recreational and sport fishing pursuits.
The hull of North Star was constructed by Deschamp & Jackson Boat Builders of Shelburne, Nova Scotia, using solid fiberglass. In 2009, the vessel underwent a complete rebuild down to the bare hull. This comprehensive refit included new framing, flooring, decks, cabin structure, running gear, and electrical systems. All exterior surfaces have been sheathed in fiberglass, ensuring a watertight and durable finish.
The vessel is fully equipped for day sailing or coastal cruising.
The vessel features the classic Cape Island design, highlighted by a spacious aft cockpit with a swim platform and a propane BBQ—perfect for entertaining or relaxing at anchor. Entry to the main cabin is through a hinged door that opens into a generous saloon. To port is a fully equipped galley, while to starboard there is a dining table with a comfortable settee. The helm is located on the starboard side, accompanied by a second chair to port. Forward, a private cabin offers a large double berth, a hanging locker, and a fully equipped head, providing comfort and functionality for extended cruising.
