Dell Quay in Bosham built many Ranger 27s (using a Fairey Marine Huntress hull) and this must be one of the best on the market. The Owner, a highly-respected Fairey Marine enthusiast, looked far and wide before purchasing this well-kept example from the owner who had cherished this boat for over 25 years - and every winter under cover.

In 1999, new Volvo engines and stern drives with contra-rotating propellers were fitted. Those propellors help stability under way and maneuvering in a marina. The engines have been very well-maintained, having done only about 1,600 hours since purchase and installation.

The fore-cabin has twin berths - or using an in-fill, one double berth.
The central helm position has modern electronics and the galley has a period charm to it. The heads and shower, in a cubicle off that cockpit, have hot and cold water.

The saloon has a settee on either side thus two single berths as needed and again everything is very well-presented in traditional blue and white.
With two sleeping cabins - separated from each other by that central cockpit - this Dell Quay Ranger 27 has a 'quiet space' to each cabin - an example of a 'big ship' layout.
Also, there is a sun-deck on the two hatches above the engine room.

This Dell Quay Ranger 27 scores highly in the three areas that need to be assessed when contemplating a classic wooden power-boat: an excellent Fairey Marine hull that has been the subject of recent preventative maintenance; twin diesel engines and stern drives; and 'Tek-Dek' synthetic teak decks.

Beautifully presented, with an extensive history file, and complete with warps and fenders, this boat packs a lot of safe, enjoyable accommodation and 'big ship' features into her 27 foot overall length.

This is a lovely boat.
It was a priviledge to be crew for the Owner on a passage from the winter boat store at Bembridge to Hamble Point Marina. The Volvo engines started immediately and the cruise in the Solent at 20 knots was both safe and enjoyable.
In my opinion, excellent value for money being a rare well-kept example that is ready to enjoy.
