Persephone is a well-presented example of David Sadler's celebrated Sadler 32, the design that took the proven seakeeping of the Contessa 32 and gave it a wider, drier hull with markedly more room below. The result is one of the best-loved British offshore cruisers of her generation: stiff, sure-footed and forgiving, with a deserved reputation for looking after her crew when the weather turns. Built in 1978 in GRP with a fin keel and tiller steering, she is easy to handle short-handed yet entirely capable of serious passage-making.This particular boat has been prepared for exactly that. She was fitted out for an Atlantic crossing in 2021 and carries the safety inventory to match, including a liferaft serviced in 2025, a Lifesling, a drogue with warp stowed under the cockpit sole, a man-overboard recovery sling, jackstays, radar reflector, foghorn, gas detector and manual bilge pump. Six lifejackets, safety harnesses and a Musto offshore suit are included in the sale. The present owners have had her for four years and have invested sensibly. The Bukh 20 hp marine diesel was recently replaced with a good second-hand unit and serviced in July 2026; it is sea-water cooled and drives a folding propeller through a conventional shaft, giving a cruising speed of around 5 knots and a maximum of around 7 knots from a single 57-litre fuel tank. The electrical system has been upgraded with four batteries charged from the engine alternator, from shore power via a Sterling advanced four-step charger, and from two 150W solar panels through a Renogy controller, with an inverter fitted and the isolators conveniently placed in the saloon. Together these make her well suited to extended cruising away from the marina. The rig is a masthead sloop with aluminium spars, single-line mainsail reefing, Furlex roller headsail furling, spinnaker pole, stack pack and lazy jacks, with the standing and running rigging reported in good condition. The sail wardrobe comprises mainsail, roller genoa, trysail and a new storm sail. An Autohelm 2000 tiller pilot takes the helm on passage.Navigation electronics are thoroughly up to date. A new Onwa KP27 chartplotter with built-in AIS transceiver and separate antenna is complemented by a Quark A026 wireless AIS receiver with GPS and WiFi, which with the cockpit clamp mount allows an iPad or tablet running Navionics or similar to be used as a second plotter. There is a Clipper Duet log, speed and depth instrument, a NASA Navtex receiver, a Standard Horizon Eclipse fixed VHF with GPS, a Cobra floating handheld VHF, a Garmin 78 handheld GPS, steering compass, barometer and a selection of paper charts for the South Coast.Below decks she sleeps seven in two cabins plus a pilot berth, in the classic arrangement of V-berth forward, settee berths either side of the saloon with a central table, a proper chart table, and a quarter berth aft. The galley has a two-ring gas cooker with grill, a refrigerator and a sink served by both manual and pressurised cold water from two 76-litre tanks, and a partial set of crockery and utensils comes with the boat. The heads is a Thetford Porta Potti. Above decks she has a sprayhood, sail cover, pushpit and pulpit, cockpit lockers and a boarding ladder.Ground tackle consists of a plough anchor with approximately 30 metres of chain and 80 metres of warp handled by a windlass, together with three boathooks (one with an automatic buoy-pickup attachment), five fenders and five mooring warps. A four-person inflatable dinghy with oars and inflator and a Tohatsu 2.5 hp outboard complete the package, and the hull has been antifouled with two coats.Persephone is UK VAT paid and SSR registered. She comes with her registration certificate, bills of sale showing five years' clear title, and the owner's and engine manuals. She lies afloat at Noss Marina, Dartmouth, and is available to view by appointment through our office there. Please note: the owner has disclosed that the gas bottles are due for replacement and the flares carried have passed their expiry date.
