Update June 15: In contract with an accepted offer. Backup offers encouraged. The venerable Tiara 2900 Open. A classic, comfortable cruiser with real fishing ability. A high-quality, ocean-going yacht, built in the USA. Original owner. Brand new Yanmar 250hp EPA-emissions compliant clean diesels and transmissions in 2023, including all new instrumentation. Now 87 engine hours. This was part of an approximately $150,000 refit completed in November 2023. See invoice in pictures. Modern fuel efficiency: Direct Injection, Denso Common Rail System. 8 GPH per motor at cruising speed, approx 20 knots (23 mph). Vs Crusader 7.4L or 8.1L gas engines at 16 GPH per motor. That's double the fuel. There is a variance in gas vs diesel price per gallon, but if you do the math, the new diesels will pay the price gap between the cost of this boat and a gas boat with old (or new) motors in about 525 hours of usage considering a gas-boat price of about $80k, and current marine fuel prices, plus retaining the higher resale value, twice the offshore fuel-range, and all the other benefits and cost eliminations of new diesel motors. And that's the math before negotiating the purchase price. A well maintained yacht, and exceptionally rare on the West Coast in this propulsion configuration. Call Jeff on mobile, using the "Contact Information" section below. New Maxwell windlass. 2023. New electric head. 2023. New Standard Horizon Explorer VHF. 2023. Furuno chart plotter and radar, with remote. Simrad auto pilot. Tank monitor. Raw and fresh water wash downs. Algea-X fuel conditioners. Lifeline batteries. Bait tank with new pump. LED nav lights. Fits in a 30-foot slip. There was a Fischer Panda generator, but it was removed and discarded during the re-power. The boat does not have AC, so a generator on a boat this size is truly superfluous, with loads of extra weight and wasted space, in addition to increased $ maintenance. An inverter would suffice for short term 120v needs such as microwave, cooktop (1200w) etc. The cabin on the 2900 Open is a comfortable living quarters. A double berth with storage below, settee with storage compartment, and hanging locker lays forward. The dinette/lounge is just aft of the forward berth to the starboard, and is convertible to an additional double berth. The galley is on the port side and features a molded fiberglass countertop, molded-in sink with pressure water system, one burner electric cooktop, microwave oven, plenty of storage, and refrigerator/freezer. The full fiberglass head is just aft of the galley and has an electric head with 20 gallon holding tank. Optional cabin features include honey ash veneer interior, and a solid, tongue and groove teak and holly cabin sole. The cockpit of the 2900 Open is large and roomy for truly comfortable cruising. Folding bench seat on the transom. Helm and companion back-to-back seating with optional curved companion lounge. Swim Platform with built-in Ladder. The electrical system on the 2900 Open features a custom 12V and 120V master distribution panel with amp meter, reverse polarity indicator, one 30 amp 50' shore power cord with adapter, a two bank 12V battery system, and battery charger. An array of safety equipment is standard including: Cockpit lighting, automatic bilge pumps, and automatic engine-room fire suppression system. The hydraulic steering system is provided by Teleflex with an 18" S.S. destroyer wheel. Other great features include: high speed axe head rudders and struts, two Nibral propellers, Zincs on the transom and shafts, a hydraulic engine hatch lifter. The 2900 Open is constructed with a water barrier outer gelcoat layer and handlaid fiberglass with a special formulated resin. The stringers are marine grade plywood and encapsulated in handlaid fiberglass and integrated into the hull. This process creates a solid backbone which makes the 2900 Open ride like a much larger boat than it is. Seacocks and all underwater thru-hull fittings are made of bronze, and a hullside exhaust system is used. The 2900 has four custom oval opening port lights with screens for great ventilation and natural light while below deck. Like Tiaras of larger stature, the 2900 features a hullside ventilation system, and gelcoated boot line graphics. The 2900 Open deck construction is similar to the hull - using a water barrier outer gelcoat and handlaid fiberglass. Tiara’s custom diamond pattern non-skid is used on all deck and cockpit surfaces for sure, safe footing. The custom windshield is made of welded aluminum and Solex 1/4" safety glass, and handrails, and a center hinged ventilating section make this windshield one of the safest, strongest, and best- built windshields in the industry. Access to the foredeck is easy with grab rails and a sturdy one-piece welded bow rail. Other deck features of the include an aluminum deck hatch with screen and privacy cover, flush forward anchor locker with overboard drain, and a fiberglass molded-in bow pulpit with optional S.S. roller assembly. If you are this far into this presentation, then you are genuinely interested in the yacht. So I have to ask, do you want the boat? If your answer is, "Heck yes!", then call me. Make an offer. You'll never know what you can get if you just sit on your thumbs. I can assist with a value analysis including sold comps etc. Don't wait until it says, "Sale pending", and someone else has grabbed her. The boat has to be sold within a certain period of time, due to health and other factors. Any other Tiara 2900 probably still has original 25-year-old motors. Gas powered, not diesel. Even diesel boats with original motors and many hundreds or thousands of hours may need updated maintenance, raw water sides needing service or replacement, exhausts smoking, turbos worn, corrosion, electrical. Nightmares. Then ongoing $ upkeep and downtime while you repair 25-year-old motors. Or, having to pay for a partial or complete re-power. :-0. These motors are NEW, with modern technology. Not "rebuilt". There's 20+ years of ongoing regular usage packed away in there, waiting for you. Direct drives. No stern drives or pods to worry about. And, the boat is in lovely condition. You're looking at a likely zero-issue, beautiful, exceptionally high quality (do your research on Tiaras), offshore cruising and fishing yacht with stunning reliability, fuel efficiency, quiet, clean running, powerful and torquey diesel engines, and a big-boat stable ride.
