The Catana 40S, designed by renowned naval architect Lock Crowther, is a fast cruising catamaran known for its lightness, performance, and reliability in offshore sailing. Displacing only 4.2 tonnes, this model is among the high-performance catamarans capable of delivering excellent sailing speeds while maintaining a comfortable cruising experience.

This 1992 vessel underwent a major refit between 2022 and 2024. The work carried out in 2023 was particularly extensive, including structural reinforcements to the mast step, davit supports, and hull/nacelle joints. The stainless steel rigging was also replaced, while the mast and boom were completely refurbished.

The energy system has been completely modernized with a 1520W solar installation consisting of four panels and an 850Ah lithium battery bank installed in 2023. The entire system is managed by a complete Victron system including MPPT controllers and 375W and 3000W inverters. This system ensures significant energy autonomy for life on board.

Water production is ensured by a 70-liter-per-hour Seawater Pro desalination system installed in 2024, supplemented by a rainwater harvesting system via the hardtop. This setup allows for complete self-sufficiency during long voyages.

The interior layout includes three cabins: two double cabins and one single cabin. The saloon has been redesigned to offer a modular table that converts into a large berth. A workshop and storage area has also been integrated, which is practical for longer voyages.

The galley is equipped with a 12V fridge-freezer, a three-burner gas hob, an induction hob installed in 2021, and a 7kg washing machine. The mattresses and cushions in the saloon and cockpit were replaced in 2023.

Outside, the cockpit has been completely redesigned with a new table, a custom Airex hardtop, and an extended aft platform incorporating a fishing tackle station. Aluminum davits allow for the storage of a 2.8-meter Airex tender equipped with a 9.8 hp Suzuki outboard motor.

Based in Papeete in French Polynesia and taxes paid, this Catana 40S is an excellent platform for a long cruise or round-the-world voyage.
