In the almost 25 years that Enkhuizensloep has been building the Enkhuizen 500, hundreds of examples have been delivered. As a lifeboat for large sailing ships, tenders for inland vessels and of course as a comfortable and safe sloop for recreational boating. They all share the DNA of the original English lifeboat, a wooden lifeboat that served as a lifeboat for an English coaster at the end of the 19th century. And which has been adapted to the present by the carpenters of Enkhuizensloep with respect for the past.

The Enkhuizen 500 has a spacious cockpit with comfortable round bench seat cushions of high, waterproof quality. That makes the 500 ideally suited for hours of boating pleasure. The interior is stylishly finished with teak details. The heavily insulated engine box has a teak panel with crank strips and also serves as a handy table. There are ample storage spaces under the foredeck and aft seats.

The shallow draft in combination with the extremely small turning circle make this sloop ideally suited for day trips in polders and on lakes. Because the DNA of the original lifeboat has been preserved, the 500 is steady on course and extremely stable. In addition, the sloop is easy to trailer due to its small length and low weight.

We build the 500 entirely according to your wishes and personal taste. You can choose from different color schemes of hull and interior. There are also a large number of comfort-enhancing options available, from a toilet facility to a sundeck. Each 500 can be equipped with a tiller or steering wheel.

For propulsion, you can choose from a choice of diesel engines, whisper-quiet electric motors or a hybrid solution. The diesel engines have proven their reliability in countless sloops. They are tailored for sailing comfort and low noise levels.
