Freshwater Heritage. Proven Capability. Modern Independence.
Sea Clef is an exceptional example of the highly respected Canadian-built Canoe Cove 42 Tri Cabin. Designed and constructed in Canada’s Pacific Northwest, she blends timeless craftsmanship with modern cruising technology, creating a yacht that is equally comfortable exploring the Great Lakes, completing another Great Loop adventure, or cruising the Bahamas.
With the exception of her completed Great Loop voyage, Sea Clef has spent her entire life in fresh water and has benefited from indoor heated winter storage every winter since new. This rare combination has helped preserve both her appearance and mechanical systems, setting her apart from many comparable cruising yachts of similar vintage.
Every significant upgrade aboard Sea Clef has been made with a clear objective: to create a yacht that is easier to own, more enjoyable to cruise, and capable of spending extended periods away from the dock. From her Victron energy system and lithium batteries to her Schenker water maker, Starlink connectivity, Glendinning controls, and fuel management systems, Sea Clef has been thoughtfully equipped to maximize comfort, reliability, and independence wherever your cruising plans may lead you.
Powered by twin Cummins 330 HP Diamond Series Turbo Diesels, she cruises comfortably at 8.5 knots with exceptional fuel economy, transitions easily onto plane at approximately 12 knots, cruises confidently at 14 knots and reaches a top speed of approximately 17 knots. Averaging approximately 0.8 gallons per nautical mile, she offers a cruising range approaching 500 nautical miles.
Sea Clef has a fully equipped air draft of approximately 18 feet 2 inches, allowing her to navigate the vast majority of North American cruising routes. Where additional clearance is required, easily lowering the radar, anchor light, Starlink antenna and wind sensor reduces her air draft to less than 16 feet, providing the bridge clearance needed to transit downtown Chicago, an exciting segment on America’s Great Loop.
Sea Clef’s Cruising Highlights
Cruising Independence
Sea Clef was designed for owners who prefer quiet anchorages over crowded marinas. Her Victron-managed lithium electrical system, expansive solar array, Schenker water maker, dual DC/DC charging system, inverter-powered household outlets, Starlink connectivity, generous fuel and water capacity, and onboard generator work together to provide exceptional independence. Spend less time searching for shore power and more time enjoying destinations that many boats simply cannot reach comfortably.

Experience Sea Clef Underway A yacht’s true character is revealed on the water. Prospective buyers are invited to experience Sea Clef through the YouTube series “Sea Clef Looping”, which documents her completed Great Loop adventure across North America. With hundreds of hours of video content, viewers can watch Sea Clef in real-world cruising conditions—from navigating locks and inland waterways to quiet anchorages, open-water passages, and a memorable cruise through the Bahamas. Rather than relying solely on photographs or a brief sea trial, prospective buyers are invited to experience Sea Clef through the window of hundreds of hours of real-world cruising videos. Few brokerage listings can offer such an authentic opportunity to see a yacht underway, at anchor, navigating locks, crossing open water, and serving as a comfortable home over thousands of miles of actual cruising. It’s a unique opportunity to appreciate not only where Sea Clef has travelled, but how thoughtfully she has been prepared, maintained, and enjoyed throughout her remarkable journey. The Next Chapter Begins Here Sea Clef has already proven herself over thousands of miles of real-world cruising. She has completed the Great Loop, explored the Bahamas, and spent virtually her entire life in the fresh water of the Great Lakes while benefiting from meticulous ownership and continuous improvement. She is not a project waiting to happen—she is a cruising yacht that has already been thoughtfully prepared for the journey ahead. Whether your plans include Georgian Bay, the North Channel, the Trent-Severn Waterway, the Great Lakes, the U.S. East Coast, another Great Loop adventure, or simply spending more nights at anchor than in a marina, Sea Clef offers something increasingly difficult to find: a beautifully maintained, professionally upgraded cruising yacht that is truly ready to go.
