Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49 DSRaised Deck Saloon | Rigging Renewed 2024 | New Gearbox 2023 | Category 1 Ocean Equipped | SOLAS Liferaft | Ready to SailThe Sun Odyssey 49 DS has a loyal following among owners who want a proper sailing yacht they can also live aboard. Philippe Briand drew the hull, which she shares with the Sun Odyssey 49i, so she is stiff, sea kindly and makes good progress under sail. Above it Jeanneau built a raised deck saloon with long windows, so you can see out from the saloon table and the galley. That matters on a wet evening at anchor or a long day on passage. With lines led to the cockpit and furling sails, a couple can handle her without calling on extra crew.Klaudia is a 2007 example, Spanish flagged and equipped to Category 1 ocean standard. Her owner does much of the work himself and keeps on top of it. She is dry and complete, though her teak decks are badly worn and will need replacing soon. A buyer should plan for that from the outset.Elsewhere, most of the expensive jobs have been done. Standing and running rigging were renewed in 2024, a new ZF gearbox was fitted in 2023, and at her March 2026 haul out she was serviced, antifouled and given new keel bolts. The genoa furler was overhauled in 2025 and the windlass replaced this year. Her sails are looked after by a specialist loft, and she carries a 2021 gennaker with snuffer and a 2019 jib alongside the working sails. For passage making she has an Iridium GMDSS terminal, Navtex, a 12 person SOLAS liferaft, Furuno radar, AIS and a new Raymarine P70 autopilot. She comes with four double cabins, three heads and everything aboard, from tools and spares to bedding and towels. A new owner could step on and sail.Key Features2007 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49 DS, Spanish flag, VAT paidEquipped to Category 1 ocean standardFour double cabins and three electric headsStanding and running rigging renewed 2024ZF gearbox 2023; engine serviced March 2026Antifouled and keel bolts renewed March 2026Raymarine P70 autopilot (2025)Iridium GMDSS terminal, Navtex and GNSS (2024)Furuno radar and AIS transponderGennaker with snuffer (2021) and jib (2019)Bow thruster and new electric windlass (2026)Lalizas SOLAS 12 person liferaft (2024)Hardtop and 360° bimini (2021)RIB with Torqeedo electric outboard and two paddle boardsSold fully equipped and ready to sailBroker's CommentsI owned a Sun Odyssey 49 DS from new for eight years, so I know these boats well. They sail better than most people expect, handle comfortably with two aboard, and the deck saloon earns its keep every time the weather turns. The market has plenty of boats of this age still waiting for their rigging and electronics to be done, with the bill passed to the buyer. Klaudia has had that money spent on her. The teak deck is the one significant job left to do, and I would rather a buyer knew that now than found it at survey. With it allowed for, she is a sound, ocean equipped yacht and I would encourage an early viewing.Full Specification and InventoryGeneralBuilder: Jeanneau, FranceModel: Sun Odyssey 49 DS (Deck Saloon)Year: 2007Flag: SpanishDesign category: Category 1 (ocean) equippedVAT status: PaidLying: Marina del Cantábrico, Santander, SpainDimensions and TankageLength overall: 14.98 mBeam: 4.49 mDraught: 2.15 mFuel: 240 litresFresh water: 700 litres in three tanks (300 + 200 + 200)Hot water: 40 litre calorifierEngine and PropulsionYanmar 4JH4TE diesel, installed 20102,672 hours recorded since 2018ZF gearbox, new 2023Shaft drive with three blade propellerEngine heat exchanger renewed 2018Full engine service March 202685A alternator, 2024Max Power Superpower Series 100 Duo bow thruster, 12V, with dedicated batteryAccommodationFour double cabinsThree heads, each with Ocean Technologies Compact Standard 12V electric toilet (2018)Deck saloon with raised seating and all round visibilityCream upholsteryLED lighting throughout (2018)Hot and cold pressurised waterGalleyEno Le Bretagne four burner gas hob and ovenKunft extractor hood (2018)Jocel microwave (2021)Vitrifrigo fridge and separate chest freezer (2020)HeatingTwo Webasto Air Top 3500 diesel heaters (not used in recent seasons; owner is having them checked in October 2026)ElectricalEngine battery: Victron AGM deep cycle 12V 220AhService bank: 2 × Victron AGM 12V 165Ah (2024)Victron and TBB battery chargers (2024)220V shore power with eight outletsHuawei LTE 4G router (2022)Navigation and CommunicationRaymarine P70 autopilot control head (2025) with Raymarine Type 2 long linear driveRaymarine ST60 wind, speed and depth instrumentsFuruno DRS4W WiFi radar (2018)ICOM fixed VHF with DSC (2018)Camino 108G AIS transponder (2018)Oceanav ATM105A WiFi AIS link, allowing chart and AIS display on tabletsNavman 1330 GPS (2018)No fixed chartplotter; the owner navigates by tabletCategory 1 Ocean EquipmentIridium Lars Thrane LT-3100S GMDSS terminal (2024)NSR NGR 3000 GNSS receiver (2024)NSR NVX 3000 Navtex (2024)SailsMainsail: Dacron, in mast furling, 37.5 m² (2007)Genoa: Dacron, furling, 59.5 m² (2007)Jib: Dacron, 49 m² (2019)Gennaker: 120 m² with snuffer (2021)All sails serviced and repaired by a specialist sail loftRiggingStanding rigging renewed 2024Running rigging renewed 2024Genoa furling gear overhauled 2025Main and jib carsDeck EquipmentTeak laid decks: badly worn, replacement recommended in the near futureFour Lewmar winchesItalwinch 12V 1700W electric windlass (2026)Spade type main anchor 20 kg with 70 m chainSecondary anchor 30 kgAluminium passerelleHot and cold freshwater cockpit showerCockpit tableCockpit cushionsCanvasStainless steel and polycarbonate hardtop (2021)360° bimini enclosure (2021)SafetyLalizas SOLAS Ocean 12 person liferaft with hydrostatic release (2024)Kannad Safelink Sportpro EPIRB12 × Lalizas Zeta 275N lifejackets plus 2 × Mullion lifejackets4 × 2 kg ABC marine fire extinguishersPyrotechnics: 6 hand flares, 6 parachute rockets, 2 smoke canistersExtended first aid kitElectric and manual bilge pumpsTender and WatersportsAquaparx RIB330 MKII Pro inflatable tender (2018)Torqeedo Travel 1003 electric outboard (2018)Two stand up paddle boardsRecent MaintenanceHauled out March 2026Antifouled with Hempel March 2026Keel bolts renewed 2026Engine serviced March 2026Windlass motor renewed 2026Autopilot control head renewed 2025Genoa furler overhauled 2025Standing and running rigging renewed 2024Liferaft, batteries and chargers renewed 2024ZF gearbox renewed 2023InventoryComprehensive tools and sparesMooring lines and fendersBedding and towelsGalley and household equipmentSold complete and ready to sailSale NotesFree of finance or secured loansDocuments available: registration, seaworthiness certificate, declaration of conformity, radio licence, liferaft and safety equipment certificates, owner's manualsBerth at Marina del Cantábrico runs to June 2027, with the owner holding preferential rights to a berth when the marina is re-awarded.
