The story of the restoration of S/Y Invader is as remarkable as the yacht herself. Conceived by the nephew of the great Nathanael Greene Herreshoff, heir to the spirit and vision of the legendary “Wizard of Bristol”, Invader embodies the very essence of a golden age of yacht design. Her sweeping lines, crowned by an almost 87-foot main boom and a 40-foot bowsprit, give her a presence that is as commanding as it is graceful, matched only by her sublime performance in light airs.
Like all true icons, Invader’s past is woven from triumph and adversity, from the glitter of film stars and high society to quieter years of neglect and solitude. Now, following the passing of her most recent owner and a period of gentle repose, her heirs are ready to entrust this floating work of art to new hands, offering her at a level that invites both appreciation and stewardship.
For the sailor who dreams of owning one of the world’s great classic yachts — a vessel lightly used, rich in soul, and poised for a future of elegant racing and timeless cruising — Invader stands not merely as a choice, but as a calling.
