The Beneteau Oceanis 51.1 is one of the most successful cruising sailboats in its class – spacious, easy to sail, and thoughtfully designed from keel to masthead. This particular example is a 2022 model, privately owned by a single owner since new, and has just been professionally prepared for the season with full engine service and a complete inspection. The model was designed by Berret Racoupeau Yacht Design and was first launched in 2016.
The Oceanis 51.1 is built around an open and social cockpit with twin helm stations, excellent visibility, and easy sail handling. This particular yacht is very well equipped, especially with the highly desirable Dock & Go system, which is a costly optional upgrade. With a self-tacking jib, four electric winches, and the Dock & Go joystick system, the boat is remarkably easy to handle despite her size. She can comfortably be operated by a single person. The shallow 2.0-meter draft also provides access to anchorages along the coast that are normally reserved for smaller boats.
Below deck, the yacht offers three spacious double cabins and three full bathrooms – a layout that works equally well for a couple cruising alone or a group of six. The bathrooms feature a clever shower solution where the sink and mirror fold away, transforming the space into a roomy shower compartment. The interior is finished with spring mattresses in all berths, a freezer compartment, dishwasher, retractable TV, and Bose sound system. USB and power outlets are fitted in all cabins as well as by the chart table. The lithium battery bank and generous tank capacities allow for extended periods away from shore power and refueling.
The rig is configured for versatility: an in-mast furling mainsail, self-tacking jib, and bowsprit rigged for both a Code 0 and an asymmetric spinnaker provide excellent flexibility for a wide range of sailing conditions for those who want to get the most out of the boat. The B&G navigation package, including dual chartplotters, autopilot, and AIS, covers every need for comfortable cruising.
Highlights:
The boat is currently registered in the Norwegian small craft registry, but can be transferred to the Norwegian Ship Register relatively quickly as she has only had one owner since new.
The Beneteau 51.1 is an excellent choice for anyone seeking generous space, modern equipment, and easily managed performance cruising. At House of Yachts, we have been aboard this particular yacht several times and have not identified any faults or deficiencies. The boat presents itself as an exceptionally safe and predictable purchase with a clean and transparent ownership history.
