LEGENDARY BLUE-WATER PERFORMANCE CRUISER. EXTENSIVE 3-YEAR REFIT. EU VAT Paid. VENUS is not simply a yacht for sale, she is a piece of sailing history. Built by the renowned Baltic Yachts of Finland in 1980, hull number 6 of only 24 Baltic 51s ever produced, she was conceived to a C&C design brief that married offshore racing pedigree with genuine blue water comfort. Few yachts of her era, or any era, can claim a sailing background like hers: an Atlantic crossing that survived a head-on hurricane in her first year afloat, passages through the fjords of Patagonia and around Cape Horn; and most recently, a 15,000 nautical mile, sixteen month voyage from Polynesia to Quebec, sailed hard on the wind against current and conditions. Baltic Yachts themselves recognised her story, featuring VENUS in The Baltic Log to mark the shipyard's 50th anniversary, a distinction reserved for only the most iconic yachts to carry the Baltic name. Following that epic passage, VENUS underwent an extensive three-year refit, touching virtually every system aboard: standing rigging, running rigging, sails, engine, electronics, hull treatment and safety equipment have all been overhauled to exacting offshore standards by a team that included the former Boat Captain of the Maxi J-Class Shamrock V who was involved in the rigging/set-up. The result is a genuine circumnavigator, ready to sail anywhere in the world, offered by an owner who has cared for her as a home for the past four years. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an authentic Baltic 51 with exceptional history, race-bred performance and a refit specification that few yachts twice her price can match. Broker Comments Genuinely turnkey blue water yachts with a documented history like Venus's rarely come to market. Many major systems have been renewed, rebuilt or significantly upgraded within the last one to three years, and the refit was carried out to a standard that reflects the boat's history rather than simply preparing her for sale. This is a yacht that has been loved, sailed hard, and maintained by people who understood exactly what she is. Her rig, sail inventory and power management system in particular are set up for serious long-distance cruising or ocean racing. Early viewing advised given the rarity of the model and the depth of the refit specification.
