DescriptionHere is a rare opportunity to buy this 82ft dumb barge. Orignally built for British Waterways and the river severn dredging operation of old, this is barge No.8. Built approximately late 50's, we think. Constructed with pre nuclear produced British steel in 10mm or 12mm thickness. There has has been little to no plate loss since. A survey is available to view with the vessel.

Perfect for conversion to create your ideal floating home. No8 Barge is of a size large enough to be a good sized family home with room for 3 double bedrooms, mulptiple reception areas, large entertaining and deck spaces. The dead space at fore and aft would be ideal for all plant and equipment to be housed.

If one was thinking about going more off grid, then a water source heat pump, on a flowing river, is a great heating/cooling solution to be added to any solar, wind and water power generation set up being considered.

Finding a barge ready for conversion on an existing mooring is a rare opportunity to kick start your journey to your dream floating family home.

She is flat bottomed with flat sloping front and rear sections. It is an 82ft long by 16ft wide hopper barge. The Hopper itself is 60ft by 14ft wide at the top point. Narrowing to approx 8ft at the bootom of the 8ft deep space. The load area is supported with steel braces along the entire length of these sideballast tanks.

A repair is required to a mooring bollard. As can be seen isn the photos, there is is also some minor impact damage to the stern port quarter. Repairing this would allow the hopper to be put back into service
