Few production yachts of this size were built to go properly offshore. The Vancouver 34 Pilot House is one of them – heavily built, long-keeled, cutter-rigged and steered from inside when the weather demands it. Built by Northshore at Itchenor, Da Draga of Dart is a well-kept example that has had the money spent where it counts, including a refit in 2022 that leaves little for the next owner to do.
That starts with the pilot house, which gives a dry, protected steering position with Raymarine autopilot, Garmin plotter, Furuno radar and ST60 instruments all in view. Behind it the saloon is bright, with seating both sides, an extending table, a large chart table and a traditional timber interior. She sleeps six in three cabin spaces, with one heads with shower and hot water, and is set up for year-round use with Eberspächer heating, a refrigerator, gimballed cooker with oven, LED lighting and a full cockpit enclosure.
The refit is the story. New standing rigging, forestay, rigging screws, halyards and a Harken Ocean furler aloft; a new Sanders yankee, two staysails as new and a new mainsail cover in the locker. The Yanmar 3GM30F has new mounts, alternator, lift pump, Racor filtration, hoses, stern gland, shaft and coupling, and drives a Bruntons Autoprop. Below the waterline the seacocks have been serviced, and the heads pump and sanitation hoses are new. The liferaft was replaced in 2023. In short, the expensive work a new owner would normally face is already done.
For cruising she carries a bow thruster, electric windlass with 35 lb CQR and 10 mm chain, Hydrovane self-steering, solar charging, a 1000 W inverter and four 110 Ah domestic batteries, with a sail wardrobe running from storm jib to gennaker.
Documentation is complete, including Builder's Certificate, VAT evidence and proof of UK location at Brexit, and the gas certificate runs to the end of 2026.
