Description

TBS Hamble present this well-equipped pocket cruiser that punches well above her 8.23m length, this 2006 Monterey 250 pairs the model's practical, big-boat layout with the reassurance of a single Yanmar diesel, a genuinely appealing combination for anyone who wants cruiser comfort without the running costs of twin petrol sterndrives.

Monterey's 250 range built a strong reputation for fitting more accommodation into its footprint than its size would suggest, and this example is no exception. Below deck she offers a converted saloon sleeping two, with a fit-out that favours easy living aboard: an induction hob, microwave, fridge and sink make her genuinely self-sufficient for a weekend or a week away, while the one-pump Jabsco manual heads and holding tank keep things simple and low-maintenance.

On deck, the layout is equally sensible, twin Kenwood radios (galley and cockpit) mean you're never without music, whether you're pottering at anchor or underway, and a heater and battery charger keep her comfortable and ready to go whatever the season.

Power & Performance

This particular 250 is fitted with a single Yanmar 4LHA-STZP, the range-topping engine in Yanmar's well-proven 4LHA family. It's a turbocharged, freshwater-cooled, four-cylinder marine diesel rated at 240hp (177kW) at 3,300rpm, with a cast-iron block and head and a mechanically-injected, gear-driven OHV design that's earned a strong reputation for reliability and easy maintenance in the marine sector. As a single-engine installation, she offers straightforward handling, lower fuel consumption than a comparable petrol twin, and the peace of mind that comes with proven commercial-grade Yanmar engineering.

Trim tabs and a trim gauge help get her onto the plane and running efficiently, while a full instrument set, rev counter, oil pressure, temperature and fuel gauge, keeps you properly informed at the helm.
