DescriptionDesigned by the renowned David Thomas and built by Hunter Boats, the Hunter Channel 31 has earned an excellent reputation as a capable cruising yacht that combines rewarding sailing performance with comfortable accommodation. Produced in relatively small numbers, these yachts are seldom available on the brokerage market and continue to attract buyers looking for a modern British-built cruiser with genuine character and practicality.

This 2005 example immediately gives the impression of a yacht that has been well loved throughout her life. From the moment you step aboard, she feels clean, well-presented and ready for her next owner to enjoy. The decks, cockpit and accommodation all appear to have been maintained to a good standard, reflecting careful ownership.

Below decks, the Channel 31 offers one of the best layouts available in a yacht of this size. With two separate double cabins, two additional saloon berths and generous headroom, she comfortably accommodates family and guests without feeling cramped.

The light timber finish, practical galley, dedicated chart table and spacious saloon create an inviting interior equally suited to weekends away or extended cruising. The addition of cabin heating and hot water further enhances onboard comfort.

On deck, her twin fin configuration offers tremendous versatility, allowing access to drying harbours and shallow anchorages while retaining the excellent sailing characteristics for which the Channel 31 is known.

Sail handling is straightforward, with slab-reefed mainsail, furling headsail, stack pack, lazy jacks and quality deck equipment making her particularly suitable for short-handed sailing. The Featherstream feathering propeller is a welcome upgrade, improving sailing performance while maintaining excellent manoeuvrability under power.

Power is provided by the dependable Yanmar 3YM20 diesel engine, while a comprehensive navigation package includes Raymarine instruments, HybridTouch chartplotter, ST1000 tiller pilot and Icom VHF. Solar charging and shore power complete a practical cruising specification.

Overall, this appears to be a particularly well-equipped and well-presented Hunter Channel 31. Combining quality British construction, capable sailing performance and comfortable cruising accommodation, she represents an excellent opportunity for anyone seeking a yacht equally at home exploring the Cornish coast or undertaking longer passages.
